The “Just Right” Acrylic? 🧶 The Hunt for the Perfect Workhorse!

Is it possible to find an acrylic that isn’t too scratchy, but also isn’t so slippery that your stitches slide right off the hook? Today, Farrah Froggit and I are testing *Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling*.

We’re putting this “Goldilocks” yarn through the Ribbit-o-Meter to see if it’s the high-reliability staple your stash has been missing, or if it’s just another basic acrylic.

  • Hook Size Used: 5mm

🐸 Ribbit-o-Meter(Scores out of 5 Granny Squares)

  • Fiber Content: 3/5 – It’s a 100% acrylic, but the anti-pilling processing gives it a much higher quality feel than your standard economy skein.
  • Feel: 4/5 – This is that “Happy Medium” we’ve been hunting for! It’s soft enough for a cozy sweater but has enough “grip” to feel substantial in your hands.
  • Color Range: ???
  • Splitting: 4/5 – The twist is tight and reliable. I was able to breeze through the swatch with almost zero hook-snags!
  • Stitch Definition: ???
  • Drape: 2/5 – This is where it loses a few points; it’s a bit stiff and “sturdy,” so while it’s great for blankets, it might feel a little “boxy” for lightweight garments.
  • Froggability: ???
  • Washability: ???
  • Price: 4/5 – It’s priced slightly higher than budget brands, but for the longevity of the “anti-pill” technology, it’s a smart investment for heirloom pieces.
