The hunt for the perfect bamboo blend continues, and today, weâre asking: is Lion Brand Coboo finally ‘The One’?
Iâve been searching for that magical combination of silky bamboo drape and cotton stability that doesnât drive me crazy on the hook. On paper, this yarn looks like a champion with a 100% natural fiber profile and an incredible price, but does the actual crochet experience live up to the stats?
Weâre putting it through the full **Ribbit-o-Meter**âincluding the ‘Gravity Drape’ test and my 120-stitch split countâto see if this is a stash-staple or just another ‘almost.’ Letâs get this on the hook and see if my search finally ends today.

Hook Size Used: 4 mm
đž Ribbit-o-Meter 5 Granny Squares possible
- *Feel: 3/5* While it is incredibly smooth and cool to the touch, it has a slight “heaviness” and lack of squish that keeps it from that top-tier “cloud” softness.
- *Color Range: 2/5* The palette is mostly limited to a small selection of muted, earthy tones and pastels, making it hard to find vibrant or trendy brights.
- *Fiber Content: 5/5* The 50/50 blend of cotton and bamboo is a luxury-feel natural fiber win that is breathable, sustainable, and perfect for warm-weather wear.
- *Splitting: 2/5* Because the plies are very loosely twisted, your hook will frequently dive between the strands, requiring a lot of extra focus while stitching.
- *Stitch Definition: 5/5* The cord-like nature of the strands creates incredibly crisp, sharp stitches that make textured patterns and cables absolutely pop.
- *Drape: 4/5* The bamboo content gives this yarn a beautiful, heavy swing that hangs elegantly, though it can be a bit “weighty” for very large garments.
- *Froggability: 5/5* Even with its splitty nature, the yarn is so smooth that it zips right out without ever catching or tangling on itself.
- *Washability: 4.5/5* It is surprisingly durable in the machine, though youâll want to lay it flat to dry to ensure the bamboo doesn’t stretch the garment out of shape.
- *Price: 5/5* For a natural fiber blend of this quality, the price per yard is an absolute steal for budget-conscious makers.
âš Overall verdict: 4/5 A high-definition dream for summer garments, as long as you have the patience to handle the splitting!
